The UI file extension is used by the Qt Designer tool aimed to help software developers create graphical user interfaces for C++ projects. Qt Designer is part of Qt Creator, a cross-platform development environment.
The program allows users to customize and adapt widgets using on-screen forms and then preview the results to make sure that everything works as planned. When users save a form in Qt Designer, it is recorded as a .ui file. Technically, UI files represent XML-based documents that can be opened using any available text editor.
Files with the .ui extension are referred to the category of the developer files used to store user interface configuration data. At compile time, a .ui file is used by the user interface compiler (uic) to generate C++ code.
In addition, a .ui file can refer to GEOS Espire source code files. GEOS Espire is the name of the assembly language used in creation of GEOS-based applications. GEOS, a computer operating system, a graphical user interface, and a set of software development tools, was used by Nokia, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba, etc.
