The .002 extension does not serve to identify any file type or file format, it rather is used to indicate the current state/position of a file. Numerical extension like .001, .002 etc. can be assigned to files of any format. Such extensions are normally used to identify sections, or chunks of a large file that has been byte-split with the use of a software utility.
A .002 file is the second chunk of a larger file split in two or more chunks. To be able to access the original file, all chunks must be rejoined in their proper order, making a file whole again. The original file can be a movie, archive or any other file. Such split technique would normally be used on large files that must be divided into smaller section without redundant compression.
Alternatively, a file with the .002 extension can be the second chunk of a portioned archive, in which case such a file would have a special byte signature recognizable by archive managers.
Split file chunks can be easily rejoined with the use of CLI commands, specialized GUI tools or most archive managers.
