What is the .POD file type?

The .pod file extension is associated with source code text files written in the Perl programming language. You can often find this type of files among Perl documentation (publicly released modules, scripts, tutorials and articles).

The POD (Plain Old Documentation) file format is mostly used in software development. It stores a collection of computer instructions for performing a necessary task. Pod files can be translated into other file formats or modified with the help of a text editing application.

The POD file format is also used by various game applications created by Terminal Reality, for example by Monster Truck Madness, Bloodrayn, Terminal Velocity, Ghostbusters, Fury 3, 4x4 Evo, and other games. Such .pod files are loaded automatically during the gameplay.

Terminal Reality files with the .pod extension typically store data necessary to define a video game environment - audio, graphics, three dimensional models, or maps. These files are not designed to be opened directly by users to prevent data loss.
