LOADED File Extension

Have a problem opening a .LOADED file? We collect information about file formats and can explain what LOADED files are. Additionally we recommend software suitable for opening or converting such files.

What is the .LOADED file type?

The filename extension .loaded is used by the BitTorrent and uTorrent P2P client applications (BitTorrent, Inc.) on Microsoft Windows to denote their automatically loaded torrent files. In both clients, the auto-loading of torrent files is controlled by the option "Automatically load .torrents from" followed, if selected, by the source directory. Once loaded, each of the .torrent files in that directory is assigned the additional .loaded filename suffix, ending up with a dual extension (.torrent.loaded). All of the auto-loaded torrent files are copied to the "%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent[BitTorrent]" directory for caching purposes.

The purpose of the .loaded suffix is to provide a plain-text indication to the "loaded" status of the torrent file and exclude the file from further processing. Next time BitTorrent/uTorrent is started, any files with the .loaded extension found in the auto-load directory are simply ignored. The attachment of the .loaded suffix does not change the affected torrent files in any way, so the files can be simply renamed by deleting the ".loaded" part. Batch renaming tools can be used for that purpose.
