The .isz filename extension stands for the ISZ CD/DVD Image File (.isz) file type and format invented by EZB Systems and introduced in their commercial UltraISO application. UltraISO supports a whole range of disk image formats, provides image mounting capability, and uses ISZ natively. Possibly standing for "ISO Zipped," ISZ is a proprietary compressed disk image format loosely built on the ISO specification, with added compression (ZLIB or BZIP2) and encryption (AES 128-192-256).
An .isz file is a disk image in the ISZ format created by UltraISO or another format-compatible tool. Thanks to the efficient compression, ISZ image files are generally smaller than regular ISO images. Like other disk-image files, .isz files can be mounted as virtual disk drives.
ISZ CD/DVD disk images are best handled by UltraISO, although there are other disk-image manipulation utilities that can read and/or write files in the ISZ format. Additionally, there are converter tools that can convert .isz images into other disk-image formats like ISO.
